Entwined Hearts Love You Scrapbook Layout
Description
Love is all we need! Showcase the ones you love with this simply sweet layout. Two variations of the layout are featured in this tutorial and both use the same free digital cut file. The elements, except for the papers and photo mats, are contained in the digital cut file. This gives you the flexibility to resize and duplicate elemenets, thus creating the layout that fits your photos and your style. You can even turn it into a 2-page layout.
The papers used in both of these featured layouts are from the Simple Vintage My Valentine collection from Simple Stories. The cardstocks used on the newspring patterned paper with 4x6 photos are black, salmon and white, all from American Crafts. For the other layout with the pink and hearts background paper and 8x10 picture, American Craft's vanilla and Bazzill's maraschino are used.Â

Adjust any pieces in Design Space as necessary
Once the file is open in Design Space, you can either make it as is or make adjustments to the pieces. The pieces are sized to fit a 12x12 layout. However, you can duplicate, re-size or delete any of the elements to make the layout your own and to fit your photos. You can also expand it to a 2-page layout. However, if you make any adjustments, you may need to adjust the amount of paper used.
Note - the shadow for the title is set to cut in a third cardstock color. This shadow is optional, but when the title is placed over the heart, it helps the letters stand out.

Preparing the File to Cut and Cutting
After you are happy with the size of the pieces, it's time to select Make It and review the mats.Â
Items can be rearranged on the mat and they can be moved between mats. When Make it is selected, there will be a white mat for the Love You shadow. This can be deleted if you do not want to use the shadow. Also, the Love You and arrow will be on a mat. To move items on the same mat, click, hold and drag the item to where you want it to be. To move items between mats, click on an image, a blue circle with 3 dots in it will appear in the top left corner. Select this circle and then select move object. Next, select the mat you want it to be on. These items will fit inside one of the large circles depending on which cardstock color you want to cut them from. Once they are on the mat with the heart, move the items so they are not touching or overlapping the heart.
Once you are satisfied with how the mats will cut, start cutting.Â
-
Cut Photo Mats
Depending on the size of the photos, the photo mat can be cut from the scraps, or you may need a separate sheet of cardstock for larger photos. Cut the photo mats to the desired size.
In the finished sample with the 6x4 photo, the white mat is 6 1/8" x 4 1/8" and the black mat is 6 3/8" x 4 3/8". For the layout with the 10x8 photo, the mat is 10 1/2 x 8 1/2.
-
Layout Version #1 - 6x4 Photo
For this version, adhere the single heart to the entwined hearts. Center the hearts on the background paper and adhere. Adhere the photo to the mat(s). Adhere the Love You title to the shadow. Arrange the photo, arrow and title on the layouts and adhere.
-
Layout Version #2 - 8x10 Photo
For this version, adhere the single heart to the entwined hearts. Adhere the photo to the mat. Arrange the photo and hearts so the point of the heart is tucked behind the photo. Once happy with the arrangement, center and adhere to the background. Take the arrow and cut it in half. Adhere to the heart so it would form a straight line through the heart. Also, trim each half of the arrow so they fit on the layout and look proportional. In this layout, the top arrow is 1 3/4" from tip to where it meets the hear. The bottom portion of the arrow is 2 3/4" in length. Gently tuck the portion of the arrow that touches the heart, slightly under the heart. Add the Love You in the bottom right corner. Â
