Celebrate – Happy Birthday to You

Description

Celebrate all of the milestones including reaching another year older! This layout has space for (2) 4"x6" photos and (3) 4"x3" photos. However, with the flip up and all of the tags, several more photos and hidden journaling can be added to the page. Or, use one of the 4"x3" spots to show off your journaling to everyone looking at the page.

The papers used in this layout from the Celebrate! and Color Vibes lines, both by Simple Stories. These lines can be used for both boys and girls, young, old and everyone in between! The Happy Birthday to You is a die from Lawn Fawn and it is popped up using Spellbinder's Pop-Up Die Cutting Foam Sheets. Tip - liquid glue works well for adhereing items to the foam sheets. The interactive elements add more surprises for the celebration!

Ingredients

Directions for Cutting and Assembling

  1. Cutting & Prep Instructions

ColorVibe Dandelion - Trim off the tab at the top of each sheet

Celebrate! Way to Go! (Blue with Polka Dots) - Cut in half to get (2) pieces, 12"x6" each. Cut 3/4" off of each of those so there is (2) 3/4"x6" pieces and (2) 11 1/4"x6" pieces

Celebrate! Tags - Cut out 4 tags, trim off corners, punch out center holes

ColorVibe Mint - Cut 2 strips, 12"x1" each

ColorVibe Warm White - Cut 4 strips, 12"x1/2" each

    White Cardstock - Cut the following photo mats: (2) 4 1/2"x6 1/2", (2) 4 1/2"x3 1/2", (1) 4 1/2"x7"

ColorVibe Dandelion Scrap and Pop-Up Foam Scrap - Die cut the title Happy Birthday to You once from each piece

Piece of scrapbook paper cut apart with a yellow Happy Birthday title
  2. Determine Tag Placement

Start with the left page. Lay the pieces on the background paper without adhereing them. Determine where the tags will be. Place the tags so they will tuck behind the blue polka dot paper, not behind the seam of the polka dot and stripes paper. Do not put any adhesive where the tags will be placed so the tags can easily be tucked in and pulled out.

  3. Work From the Top Down

Start with the left page. Adhere 1 of the 12" x 1/2" strips of Warm White 2" down from the top of the page, being careful not to add adhesive where the tags will be. Note: The MISTI Cut-Align ruler is 2" wide. Place this at the top of the page and work down. Or, measure 2" from the top and work down.

Next, adhere the 3/4" x 6" piece of the Celebrate! Way to Go!, multi-colored stripes side up, directly below the warm white, flush with the left edge.

The 11 1/4" x 6" piece of Celebrate! Way to Go! goes next. Being careful not to put adhesive where the tags will be tucked in, adhere the piece directly below the Warm White strip and next to the multi-colored stripes piece.

Layer the Mint strip next followed by another Warm White strip.

  4. Match the Right Page to the Left Page

Next, work on the right page. Place it next to the left page so all of the strips align. Repeat the steps for the left page, however, the tags and multi-colored stripes pieces will be towards the right side.

  5. Add Twine to Tags

Loop the twine through the holes in the tags and slide the tags in place.

One way to make a knot with tags is to take the twine and fold it in half. Feed the folded end through the hole in the tag from the front to the back. Take the folded edge and feed the other end through it from the front to the back and pull tight, careful not to pull it too tight so the tag tears.

  6. Adhere the Dandelion Happy Birthday to You die cut to the foam die cut. Liquid glue works best for this. Place the Dandelion die cut slightly off center of the foam die cut to give it a white shadow.

  7. Complete the Left Page

Arrange the title and photo mats on the left page. Slide the tags into place.

Note: (1) 4 1/2"x6 1/2" photo mat and (1) 4 1/2"x3 1/2" photo mat were used on the left page.

  8. Create Flip Up

Take the 4 1/2"x7" photo mat. For a crisp fold, use a scor board and crease tool to scor it at 3 1/2". Fold so it is 4 1/2"x3 1/2".

This gives extra space for photos and journaling.

  9. Complete the Right Page

Arrange the photo mats on the right page and slide the tags into place.
